The midwife or birth center you are working with charges an all-inclusive fee for their services, which must be paid by a specified due date. Since each practice may have different terms, it’s important to confirm the exact details with your midwife or center.
This all-inclusive fee is a package price that covers a range of services and scenarios, which is why it cannot be coded for insurance purposes. It is also significantly discounted as it eliminates the need for a medical biller and the additional work involved in billing insurance.
When utilizing health insurance, we are required to submit detailed billing to the insurance company for the specific services provided (e.g., number of visits). This includes submitting claims for individual treatments, procedures, and services rendered as part of your care.
As a result, the amount billed to your insurance typically exceeds the all-inclusive fee. The all-inclusive fee you pay will be applied as a retainer toward your patient responsibility (e.g., deductible, coinsurance, etc.). Any reimbursement is based on several factors, including your patient responsibility, the allowed amounts determined by your insurance company, and the amount already prepaid for the retainer.
Please note that we are unable to determine or estimate reimbursement amounts until all claims have been fully processed.
By submitting this verification of benefits, I agree to utilize the services of Birth Professional Billing for filing insurance claims after services are rendered. I consent to a fee of 10% of the payment received from my insurance company, which will be paid to Birth Professional Billing.
